I sit in front of you, in the late night and listen carefully to your words as they tear my confidence apart.

I hear a loud noise.

It shatters in my chest, and I feel the warmth as the sadness spreads inside.

A feeling posses me and paralyzes me.

As I hold my breath, I still hear your words as they go on gently brushing away what is now left of my wings.

The pain hums in my ears as I watch the feathers fall to the floor. 

I can no longer hear the words.

The darkness of the room now surrounds me as the time stops.

I can only see your lips move, as you continue to speak.

Thorns surround you and take hold of you.

I reach across to brush them off.

They cut my hands thrashing about as they fight off the tight grip.

You embrace them as they pull you further into the darkness.

I reach out to you, exposing my bleeding palms.

I try to call out your name, but my voice is silenced.

I hope that you can still see me and know that I can brighten the darkness.

If only you allow me to rip off the embedded thorns from the bleeding wounds, and just hold me so my wings heal.

Make me feel that I can fly again.
